"How did you do that?"  Whether it's a question about an image or a Photoshop technique, we are constantly being asked how we create our signature looks.  The answer is "A combination of pre - shoot preparation, rapport with the subject, makeup, styling, set choice, lighting, posing, angles, and aperture, and then years of Photoshop training to take the image through just enough digital post production to bring out the quality of the subject.

Do you want to learn digital photography? Or are you experienced in glamour photography or boudoir photography, but just don't know enough about Photoshop post production techniques to set your images apart? Then plan on attending one of our workshops! We design our digital photography and post production workshops with an emphasis on female photography.  Each class is geared towards the needs of the individual attendees, and we even offer one-on-one private workshops if that better suits your schedule! Photography workshops feature professional models and detailed instruction in both shooting and Photoshop editing.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions, or want more information on our workshops!

Tabitha wants to be a model, and she came to use with these three images - they aren't bad, but when she's just creating her portfolio, she really needs a variety of images that show her versatility. The lighting, backgrounds, pose and expressions don't do much to separate her from the crowd of girls who want to be models. We spent several hours working with her, shooting a wide variety of feels, moods, and expressions to demonstrate her versatility. We also hired a professional makeup artist and stylist to help create a variety of looks for Tabitha that work for digital photography.

Here are a few of the images that we created for Tabitha. Interesting lighting techniques, continuous help with posing, a fun, comfortable atmosphere, and some digital post production in Photoshop made for a very happy customer! As Tabitha wrote to us after she saw her first image, "OMG!!! love the photo!!!! AMAZING!! you guys are the best, I had an awesome time!!!"

Photoshop Post Production

I've been planning for this shoot for several months, and it was truly a memorable experience! Our oldest daughter Holly reminds me of the singer/artist Pink, and I wanted to create an image of her to highlight that resemblance. We hired Phoenix makeup artist Allison Pynn to do the makeup and styling, and as usual, she did an amazing job! Using a screenshot from the 'U & Ur Hand' video as inspiration, Allison spent an hour turning Holly into Pink. We then shot on greenscreen, so that we could choose from a variety of fun & funky backgrounds to layer into the final image. Lighting consisted of one light almost directly from the front to produce a flattened, glamour effect. I also set up two black boards positioned only inches from both sides of her face, to absorb light and create a more defined cheekbone. The blackboards also helped to slim down Holly's face, as her face is rounder than Pink's. I spent an hour creating the final image in Photoshop. Highlights of the digital work to achieve the transformation include a significant amount of diffuse glow, using the liquify tool to further slim Holly's face and elongate her neck, and enlarging and opening her eyes with the liquify tool as well. I also used the color replacement tool to turn her hair red, and enhance the blue color of her eye. After layering in an image that Tony took in Las Vegas of the Planet Hollywood sign, I applied lens blur to the background to create the illusion of depth. All of this Photoshop work was captured with a program called Screen Flow, so check out the video and let us know what you think! ~Char Mandarich

'7 Secrets Pro Glamour Photographers Won't Share'

Kara came to use with a little more experience than Tabitha - she has done some modeling, but just wasn't getting many paying jobs. She wanted to update her portfolio, and show that she could pull off a wide variety of looks. She also felt that her ethnicity was vague enough that she could be hired for many different cultural looks, if her portfolio demonstrated that versatility. We shot with Kara for two days, using a professional makeup artist and stylist, and using a wide variety of shooting styles and techniques. Of course, we also did some light retouching to the photos in Photoshop.

These are a few of the images we created for Kara. Dramatic lighting techniques emphasized her 'wild side'; soft, bright, and airy lighting and styling gave her a wonderful boudoir look; warm tones with strong, diffused lighting helped create a sexy glamour image for her. She was thrilled with the variety we added to her portfolio, and her job offers are now steady!
